PSE-Konferenz
Die PSE-Konferenz 2022 wurde wieder in Erfurt persönlich abgehalten. Der SFB 1316 wurde durch Achim von Keudell (Projekte A3 und B7) vertreten. Er hielt einen Plenarvortrag über diagnostische Herausforderungen in HiPIMS. Simon Kreuznacht (Carbon2Chem) hielt einen Vortrag im Trendworkshop "Plasma in der Gasumwandlung". Diese Konferenz mit 550 Teilnehmern konzentrierte sich auf Anwendungen der Plasmatechnologie für die Materialverarbeitung und -modifikation.

HAKONE XVII
Vom 21. bis 25. August fand im Süden der Niederlande in der ehemaligen Abtei Rolduc das 17. Internationale Symposium über Hochdruck-Niedertemperatur-Plasmachemie (HAKONE XVII ) statt. Das Symposium ist den Grundlagen und Anwendungen von nicht-thermischen Plasmen und ihrer Chemie bei hohen Drücken gewidmet. Judith Golda vom SFB 1316 hielt einen eingeladenen Vortrag über "Kalte Atmosphärendruckplasmen für plasmakatalytische Anwendungen: Merkmale, Beschränkungen und Herausforderungen".

Gordon Forschungskonferenz
Vom 23. bis 29. Juli fand in Andover, New Hampshire, die Gordon Research Conference and Seminar on Plasma Processing and Science statt. Die Konferenz konzentrierte sich auf Plasmen und ihre Wechselwirkungen mit Materie, während sich das Seminar auf die Untersuchung von mehrphasigen und multiskaligen Plasma-Material-Wechselwirkungen konzentrierte. Judith Golda vom SFB 1316 hielt einen Vortrag über "Zustandsverstärkte Aktinometrie in Atmosphärendruck-Entladungen". Außerdem organisierte sie die so genannte "Power Hour" am GRC - eine Veranstaltung, die auf die Herausforderungen im Bereich der Minderheiten in der Plasmaphysik aufmerksam machen soll.

GREMI-Besuch von Judith Golda, Laura Chauvet und Daniel Henze
Vom 18. Juli bis 29. Juli waren Jun.-Prof. Judith Golda, Dr. Laura Chauvet und Daniel Henze vom SFB 1316 zu Gast im Labor von Prof. Claire Douat am GREMI in Orléans. In einer gemeinsamen Messkampagne wurden zwei verschiedene Atmosphärendruck-Plasmastrahlen getestet. Dabei wurde die CO-Produktion bei verschiedenen Betriebsbedingungen mit einem Gasanalysator gemessen. Die Reise wurde vom DAAD im Rahmen eines PROCOPE-Projekts zur Verbesserung der Zusammenarbeit zwischen der RUB und GREMI gefördert.

SFB 1316 auf der Internationalen Konferenz für Plasmamedizin
Im Sommer besuchten Dr. Sebastian Burhenn und Steffen Schüttler zusammen mit Sabrina Klopsch und Tim Dirks von der Arbeitsgruppe Angewandte Mikrobiologie der RUB die 9th International Conference on Plasma Medicine (ICPM9) in Utrecht, Niederlande. Rund 250 Teilnehmer diskutierten über den aktuellen Stand der Plasmen in der Medizin. Die Themen reichten von "Plasma Agricultural Applications" über "Plasma-Liquid Interactions" bis hin zu "Plasma-Based Decontamination and Sterilisation" und vieles mehr.
Sebastian Burhenn hielt in der Sektion "Grundlagen des atmosphärischen Plasmas" einen Vortrag über den "Einfluss der Luftfeuchtigkeit auf die OH-Verteilung im COST-Jet, gemessen durch laserinduzierte Fluoreszenz". Steffen Schüttler leistete einen Beitrag zur Sektion "Plasma-Flüssigkeit-Wechselwirkungen" mit seinem Vortrag über "Wasserstoffperoxidproduktion in Wasser, das mit einem Kapillarplasmastrahl behandelt wurde". Sabrina Klopsch und Tim Dirks präsentierten ein Poster über ihre Arbeit auf dem Gebiet der plasmagestützten Biokatalyse.

CRC 1316 Wissenschaftler bei der ICPM9
Vier Wissenschaftler des SFB 1316 nehmen an der 9. Internationalen Konferenz für Plasmamedizin (ICPM9) teil. Heute sprach Sebastian Burhenn über den "Einfluss der Luftfeuchtigkeit auf die OH-Verteilung im Ausfluss des COST-Jet, gemessen mit laserinduzierter Fluoreszenz". Ein weiteres Highlight ist der Plenarvortrag von Julia Bandow, Leiterin des CRC, zum Thema 'Plasma-driven biocatalysis: challenges and opportunities'.

ICOPS-Konferenz in Seattle
Die 49. Internationale Konferenz für Plasmawissenschaften (ICOPS) fand vom 22. bis 26. Mai in Seattle statt. Es war eine der ersten Konferenzen seit Beginn der COVID-Pandemie, die als Hybrid-Konferenz organisiert war und teilweise vor Ort stattfand. Es war schön, wieder auf einer Live-Konferenz zu sein und mit anderen Forschern persönlich in Kontakt zu kommen. Mehr als 350 Teilnehmer besuchten die Konferenz vor Ort und mehr als 150 Forscher nahmen virtuell an der Konferenz teil. Tagungsort war das Sheraton Grand Seattle im Stadtzentrum von Seattle. Das wissenschaftliche Programm umfasste eine breite Palette von Themen aus dem Bereich der Plasmaphysik, von grundlegenden Phänomenen in Hochtemperatur-Fusionsplasmen oder Niedertemperatur-Plasmastrahlen bis hin zu den Anwendungen der verschiedenen Quellen, z. B. in der Medizin, der Landwirtschaft oder für Umweltzwecke.
Neben dem wissenschaftlichen Programm gab es in der Umgebung viel zu entdecken, wie z. B. einen Bummel über den berühmten Pike Place Market oder einen Aufstieg auf die Space Needle, von der aus man einen großartigen Blick über die Stadt und den 4392 m hohen Vulkan Mount Rainier hat, sofern er sich nicht in dichten Wolken versteckt. Während der Konferenz fand eine spontane Gruppenveranstaltung statt, bei der wir zusammen mit etwa 30 anderen Forschern das Nachtleben von Seattle erkundeten, und die Konferenz wurde schließlich mit einem schönen Bankett abgeschlossen.
