Poster Prize for Patrick Preissing (A6) at the 8th International Workshop on Plasma Spectroscopy in Oxford
The 8th International Workshop on Plasma Spectroscopy was held from the 23-26th of September, 2018 at the Worcester College in Oxford, UK. Volker Schulz- von der Gathen, Patrick Preissing and Katharina Grosse from EP2 contributed with 2 talks and 3 poster presentations. One of two poster prices were won by Patrick Pressing which was announced during the conference dinner. The excursion to Blenheim Palace was a highlight of the conference next to the excellent scientific programme.

29.08.2018 - Blue Square of Ruhr-Universität celebrates its 5 year anniversary
On September 15th, 2018, the Blue Square in Bochum celebrates its 5 year anniversary. At 11:30 the opening of the event starts with an official presentation of the heads of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Afterwards, scientific experiments for children and adults are presented on the different levels of the Blue Square. Furthermore, oral presentations are shown. Especially, Prof. Achim von Keudell holds a presentation about Plasmas supporting energy storage. This presentation starts at 14:30 on level 3 of the Blue Square.
Plasmas may play a central role for the energy revolution. The vision of scientists is to build a small plasma system, which can be developed at the foot of a wind turbine producing so-called solar fuels. Find out how exactly that could look like.

Public Outreach
WissensNacht Ruhr
On September 28th we will be present at the WissensNacht Ruhr. We will present a lot of information about plasmas in everyday life and also in technology.
We would be pleased, if you come to visit us in the Blue Square in Bochum. There are knowledge bags with a science magazine, a digi-cleaner, ballpoint pen and USB stick to give away for everyone who brings a photo of a plasma that occurs in nature. The first 20 visitors with the example of a plasma occurring in nature as a solution receive a bag as a present. Legal recourse is excluded.

07. - 11.10.2018 I 22th International Plasma School
Our series of schools on low temperature plasma physics has been a great success in the last two decades. In 2018, the 22th International School on "Low Temperature Plasma Physics: Basics and Apllications" and its Master Class "Electronegative plasmas" will take place at the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, Germany. We are looking forward to it because, once again, we are putting together a very promising program, with support of many colleagues who are willing to give a talk at the School.
