Description

Image

The simultaneous laser structuring and chemical modification of catalytic surfaces using excited plasma species is being investigated. First, we will explore new substrate materials with high catalytic selectivity, such as Ag-O systems for electrocatalytic nitrate reduction to hydroxylamine or ammonia formation. Subsequently, we will extend the pulsed laser-induced dewetting structures (PLIDS) approach to Ti-N material systems to generate plasmonic particles that could serve as localised heating sources for plasma catalytic materials. This involves switching the plasma chemistry to reactive nitrogen species.
